6 WAYS TO CURE YOUR WANDERLUST FROM HOME

6 WAYS TO CURE YOUR WANDERLUST FROM HOME

STILL HAVE THE TRAVEL BUG? HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO CURE YOUR WANDERLUST FROM HOME!

For those who have had to cancel upcoming vacations, you may be feeling a little discouraged about the uncertainty of when you can start your next big adventure. Until quarantine is lifted, we can keep our spirits alive by keeping our wanderlust strong!

Below are 6 ways to satisfy your itch for adventure!

  •  FREE VIRTUAL TOURS

From the comfort of your own home, you can check out some awesome museums and theme parks around the world. Check out this list of all the FREE virtual tours you can take straight from your laptop.

  • START PLANNING YOUR NEXT GETAWAY

Making plans will make you happy. According to an Applied Research in Quality of Life study, "For most, the enjoyment starts weeks, even months before the holiday begins." Pre-trip happiness is real, the earlier you can experience it the better!

  • PREPARE A TRAVEL BUDGET

While you're at home, take some time to prepare a budget for your travel savings. Choose a few destinations you've been longing to visit, estimate how much you need per trip, and determine your monthly income. With that information alone, you can determine the amount of money you need to stash away bi-weekly or per month in order to hit your travel savings goal!

REMEMBER, MEMORIES OVER MATERIAL THINGS, ALWAYS!

Make a promise to yourself that you will only use that money for your adventures, and you won't dip into it for unessentials like new clothes and going out to eat. Only use that money for bills if it is absolutely necessary. If not, keep it in your savings!

A good savings app that I recommend is called 'DIGIT'. Digit automatically withdraws a small amount of money from your bank account and stores it in a private savings account for you. You won't even know it's missing! You can also select a manual option, and enter the amount of money per day you would like withdrawn.

My private savings account on DIGIT is named "Galapagos Islands" because my grandma has been dying to visit and I want to surprise her with a trip, soon!

  • LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE

Have you ever wanted to learn a new language, but never found the time to do so? Maybe this could be your chance to finally learn the most romantic language in the world - French. Or perhaps you need to brush up on your Spanish or Italian! Whatever your language choice, there's so many programs you can access from home to start your journey. Duolingo is my go to, and you can download the app for free!

  • COOK AN INTERNATIONAL DISH

From the Paella of Spain to the Butter Chicken of India, there are so many amazing dishes you can cook right at home! Not only will this get you excited to visit your dream destinations, but it also gives you a fun family activity to do while stuck in quarantine!

  • STAY EXCITED BY KEEPING YOUR IMAGINATION RUNNING!

Travel related books and movies are some of my favorite ways to get excited about my future travels. Below I have attached links to articles containing some of my favorites! (Right now, my favorite series to binge watch on Netflix is called "Jack Whitehalls Travels with My Father". ) It's family friendly, and will make you laugh like no other. The perfect way to lift your spirits during this time!

If you're reading this, adventure is already within you. It's something that can never be taken away, quarantine and all. Before you know it, we will go back to weekend getaways and group trips! For now, stay focused on the positives. You're safe at home, you're healthy, and you're now preparing for the best! Stay excited!
